Jose Maria Prado

Jose Maria Prado is a Senior Principal Environmental Consultant based in Madrid, Spain, with more than 30 years of international experience focused on mining engineering, environmental due diligence, health, safety, and environmental (HSE) assessments, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategic advising.

Over the course of his career, Jose Maria has managed numerous due diligence, HSE, and ESG projects and has worked for relevant companies in the mining, oil and gas, power generation, renewable energy, manufacturing, retailing, financial, insurance, real state and legal sectors. In addition, he has held leadership positions in the environmental consulting industry since 2006.

Jose Maria’s professional experience includes local and international work in Europe (Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands) and Latin America (Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Venezuela, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Dominican Republic) as well as work for multinational companies (e.g., Anglo American, Orvana Minerals, Xstrata, Arcelor Mittal, BASF, ENDESA, Enel Green Power, FCC, OHLA, Repsol, Cemex, Votorantim Cements, Apple, Santander Bank, BBVA).

In addition, Jose Maria served as an active member of the working group for the elaboration of the Spanish standards UNE 22480:2015 and UNE 22470:2015 for sustainable mining management certification. Recently, he has participated in national and international events in the field of space resources. To foster innovation, he collaborates with the School of Mines of Madrid Polytechnic University, supporting the participation of university specialists in consultancy projects and organizing workshops on topics including mergers and acquisitions in the mining sector and space mining. To advance his field, Jose Maria also participates in lectures and courses on environmental management in public and private institutions.
